Inviting in Self-Compassion

Thursday September 23 9:30-10:30am PST

Hosted in partnership with OneSpace For All in East Vancouver, join me for an in person conversation and morning of meaningful connection with other mamas.

In this day and age, there is so much pressure on moms to do it all. This often leads to moms being their own worst critic; judging, comparing and feeling guilty about what they are and aren’t doing as a mom.

One of the most powerful practices that you can integrate into your life is self-compassion. In this conversation we will explore where we are hard on ourselves as moms, what it means to be self-compassionate and how we can put self-compassion into practice.

$10 / mama. Childminding available. Babies welcome. Refreshments provided.

Mama Meetup @ Chorus & Clouds

Wednesday September 29, 1:15pm PST

I’m thrilled to be a guest speaker as part of the Chorus & Cloud Mama Meetups alongside Amanda, the mama coach. I will be speaking about Matrescence and the Identity Shift you experience as a parent, and Amanda will be discussing sleep and sleep wellness.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. Come find that village at MEET-UPS! Join the Chorus & Clouds team as they bring back a most beloved weekly gathering hosted for mamas, papas, caregivers and their babes at the the studio ((197 East 17th)) just off Main street. Doors open at 1:15PM and speaker begins promptly after we all settle in and listen to some live music. Our very lovely set of speakers will join us every week and elaborate on topics that matter to you. Come with your little ones and enjoy the opportunity to gather, connect and learn from amazing speakers and musicians.

This is a drop in event, therefore no need to book, it will be first come first seated. Refreshments and treats will also be provided therefore donations are welcome.

Lunch with Luminaries: Mindful Parenting

Tuesday October 5, 12:00-1:00pm PST

I’m thrilled to be a guest as part of the Haven retreat centre virtual Lunch with Luminaries series.

Parenting can be the greatest source of joy, the greatest source of challenge, and the greatest opportunity for self growth. While there are thousands (if not millions!) of books and courses on parenting, almost all of them focus on the child’s well-being, not the parent’s. At the heart of the concept of mindful parenting is your inner experience as a parent. Mindful parenting provides you with a lens through which we can see parenting as a mindful practice, rather than seeing these two as separate.

In this seminar we’ll explore what mindful parenting is, some simple practices you can integrate into your day to day life, and ultimately how you can cultivate more empathy, acceptance, connection and presence as a parent.

Parenthood Meetup at St. Paul’s Hospital

Wednesday October 13 1:00-2:00pm PST

Matrescence is the developmental process a person goes through as one becomes a mom and journeys through motherhood. It is a relatively new term in the world, and it is one of the most significant and profound human developmental experiences. Just like adolescence is for teenagers, matrescence is for mothers.

In this meetup, we’ll discuss what happens as you go through matrescence and explore your unique journey with matrescence so far.

This meetup is open to all families and not just those that birthed at St. Paul’s. DM @BornatSPH on instagram for the link to attend.
